WITH the Azkals front line getting old, a goal scoring machine is making waves in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The problem is Pinoy-American Sebastian Fronda is only 12 years-old (born 2006) and will take at least a decade for him to play for the Azkals.

Fortunately he has been getting attention from European clubs, first from Chelsea FC in London, and then Atletico Madrid in Spain.

His parents Larry Fronda and Sarah Trabado Fronda from Koronadal, South Cotabato, recently accompanied him for a training with Chelsea.

The Chelsea coaching staff then verbally invited him for trials in May of 2019. The Fronda family was hosted by their longtime friend and Tupi Football Club supporter Gado Miravalles.

Miravalles was one of the supporters of the Little Azkals during their training in Loughborough, England in 2012. 

Atletico Madrid has also invited Sebastian but his father Larry is having second thoughts about the offers as Sebastian is still too young to be away from them.

As of the moment, Sebastian is continuing his football education at the top club in Las Vegas, the Prime Soccer Club. They will start their season on Sept. 1.

FRONDA FAMILY 

Sebastian’s parents are both nurses working in Nevada. The family lives in Henderson City near La Vegas where Sebastian is in the 7th grade of the  SLAM-Sport Leadership and Management school. He has an older brother 18-year-old Nuel.

According to his father Larry, Sebastian is a scoring machine who could play midfield, striker, and winger. Larry introduced football to Sebastian at age seven, as he was also a footballer during his younger days playing in the PRISAA for his school Southern Mindanao University in Kabacan, South Cotabato.

Sebastian according to his father is willing to play for any Philippine youth team if given a chance. He looks very impressive specially his free kicks in the videos posted by his club in Facebook.

He would very easily fit to the Philippine U13 team that recently placed fourth in an international tournament in China.

Hopefully, NOFA president Ricky Yanson, the manager of the team will invite him to play in their next tournament abroad. (l.biantan@gmail.com)
