NO less than the faces of Philippine football the Younghusband brothers, Bhil and James of the Davao Aguilas sent off the Philippine National Weightlifting team to the Asian Games in Palembang, Indonesia.

The Younghusband brothers, were with Davao Aguilas team owner Jeff Cheng and his staff. Cheng is a strong supporter of weight lifting aside from football.

They treated the lifters, led by Rio Olympics 53 kgs. silver medalist Hadilyn Diaz, to an official send off dinner.

Diaz is now in Palembang with her team mates Mari Dessa Delos Santos, Erleen Andi, Kristel Machrohon, Nestor Colonia, Jeffrey Garcia and Eileen Rose Perez.

“The Davao Aguilas FC is extending its support and best wishes not only towards the national weightlifting team but to all the athletes representing the Philippines in the Asian Games which started Saturday and ends on Sept. 2,” Cheng said.

Diaz ended the country’s 20 year medal drought in the Olympics when she won the silver in Rio in 2016. They will compete against 32 other nations in the quadrennial sports extravaganza.

The Aguilas are right now in thick of their preparations for the Paulino Alcantara Cup which will blast off this month. (l.biantan@gmail.com)
