CAGAYAN DE ORO BOYS ELEMENTARY FOOTBALL TEAM BEFORE THEIR MATCH AGAINST OZAMIZ CITY IN THE NORTHERN MINDANAO REGIONAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION REGIONAL MEET IN LANAO DEL NORTE.
CAGAYAN DE ORO City —Cagayan de Oro booters proved their worth in Secondary and Elementary football of the Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) Regional meet after they won big in their first assignments in Lanao del Norte.
The Secondary boys team of coach Marc Racines scored two wins when they whipped Malaybalay City of Bukidnon 5-0, and then advanced to the semis with a 4-0 win over Ozamiz City at the Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
The Elementary boys team of coach Rowen Clemena not to be outdone, also went into the win column with a 13-0 romping of Ozamiz City at the Lanao del Norte Central High School in Baroy town.
The secondary boys team are already through the semis even with the opening ceremony still to be held today (Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019) and matches resuming tomorrow (Monday, Dec. 9, 2010).
Inspite of their 13-0 win over Ozamiz City, the elementary boys are still in danger of missing the semis in Group A if they lose to Bukidnon on Monday as there are only three of them in their group and only one team can advance to the semis.
Teams in Group B are Misamis Occidental, Oroqueta City, and Tangub City, while in Group C teams are Ginggoog, Valencia, and Iligan. Misamis Oriental, Malaybalay and Lanao del Norte are in Group D.
However, coach Rowen Clemena is confident that they could breeze past against Bukidnon, whose line-up consist of players champion team in the Mindanao Cup in Davao in October and the Luzon Cup in Tarlac last month.
“Kaya ra ang Bukidnon,’’ (We can take on Bukidnon.) said Clemena.
That confidence was boasted by their 13-0 win over Ozamiz City where the CdO boys from the Golden Friendship Football Club Darryn Pagasian, Jefferson Datahan, and Jian Carlo Esoy scored a total of ten goals for the CdO team.
The trio who are all under coach Marlon Merlin at the Bongbongan Elementary School in Kausawagan. They were also members of the Little Me Academy FC (Now Golden Friendship FC) which represented Cagayan de Oro in the Mindanao Cup.
Pagasian, the top scorer of the team CdO in the Mindanao Cup, has resumed his scoring prowess finding the back of the net seven times, while Datahan scored two goals, and Esoy one.
Gio Gumban of Rosevale School scored two goals and Karstien Yañez one goal to complete the carnage.
Geo Tacandong led the CdO Secondary boys team with two goals against Malaybalay City while Rafi Rubio and Lyle Dy added one goal each. Malaybalay scored an own goal.
Against Ozamiz City, Tacandong also led the team CdO with two more goals, while Dy and MJ Hojas added one goal each. The elimination round matches in the Elementary Boys and Secondary Boys will resume Monday (Dec. 9, 2019) while the CdO Girls Futsal team of coach Paul Cabio will also start their campaign Monday also at the Lanao Del Norte Central High School in Baroy.
