RIFA QUEZON CITY HAS SO FAR SAILED THROUGH THE SEMIS AFTER THE BOYS FROM CLARET AND ATENEO DEFEATED YOUTH FOOTBALL ACADEMY OF MUNTINLUPA IN THE Q-FINALS.
TARLAC City, Tarlac — Top teams RIFA Quezon City, One La Salle, Bukidnon FA and Masbate Saturday (Nov. 23) secured their semis place after recording big wins in the quarter finals of the Luzon Cup 2019 at the Jose V. Yap Sports and Recreation Park in San Jose, Tarlac City, Tarlac Central Luzon.
RIFA Quezon City scored the biggest win in the q-finals when the boys from Claret School and Ateneo demolished Youth Football Academy of Muntinlupa 17-0, to arrange an epic meeting with One La Salle FC which also whipped Laguna 6-0.
After losing to One La Salle in the elims, Bukidnon FA, whipped their frustrations on Camarinez Sur to score a 9-1 rout and pencil a clash against Masbate in the semis.
Masbate earned an entry to the semis after it won over Cordillera RFA Baguio 3-0 in their q-quarter clash.RIFA Quezon City of veteran coach Bob Salvacion once again leaned on the scoring prowess of forward Filbert Martin Tacardon who scored a total five goals while Rossen Angelo Comia and Juan Pablo Regino scored three goals each.
Gianno Narcise added two and Carlos Chun one goal to complete the rout.One La Salle of coach Eric Sardou Yosse on the other q-finals match got a hat trick from Paulino Tobias and one goal each from Fritz Kenzo Chun, Duke Punzalan and Andre Bacolod to defeat Laguna FA, 6-0.
The Bukidnon boys of coach Guillier Sumampong got four goals from striker Kurbe Dairo including two goals from the half way line.
Cade Sanchez added two while Ricky Ortiz, Jim Fabella, and Adriel Algodon put in one goal each to secure their semis slot.
George Puyo scored the lone goal for Cam Sur. Jurgen Medina scored two goals for Masbate while Alain Sambajon scored the other goal
.Expect an epic battle between rivals One La Salle and RIFA Quezon City while Mindanao Cup champion Bukidnon is heavily favoured against Masbate.
The Cup semis is set at 9 a.m. while the championship is in the afternoon. The semis clashes were determined by the drawing of lots after the q-final matches.
Bukidnon coach Guillier Sumampong were all smiles after the draw as he was praying hard to avoid RIFA Quezon City and One La Salle.
His prayers were answered as he picked up the lightly regarded Masbate. His promise to seek vengence against One La Salle in the championship after their elimination round, might come true if La Salle defeats RIFA Quezon City.
If One La Salle loses then coach Sumampong has to postpone his dream of meeting the boys from De La Salle Greenhills, De La Salle Zobel and De La Salle Canlubang and will have to wait for the Chairman’s Cup next year
RIFA Quezon City topped Group A in the elims with three wins and scoring a total of 43 goals while One La Salle also topped Group C with three wins and scoring 23 goals while Rukidnon came in second in Group C with two wins and one loss.
They scored a total of 29 goals. Masbate on the other hand topped Group D with two wins and one loss ans scoring a total of 22 goals.Winners will get trophies from NOFA. (l.biantan@gmail.com)
