Luzon Cup all set as 16 teams sign to compete on Nov. 22-24

GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL AT ITS BEST AS TOP U12 PLAYERS FROM ALL OVER LUZON PLUS THE CHAMPION OF THE MINDANAO CUP WILL COMPETE IN THE THREE DAY TOURNAMENT.

All is set for the Luzon Cup U12 Championship with 15 teams from Luzon, and Mindanao Cup champion Bukidnon FA competing on Nov. 22-24 at the Jose V. Yap Sports and Recreational Complex in Tarlac, Central Luzon.

Organiser and sponsor Ricky Yanson Jr. is expected to attend the opening ceremony set at 730 a.m. on Friday.

The Luzon Cup is organised by Yanson a month after he also organised the Mindanao Cup in Davao City where Bukidnon FA rampaged its way to the title without losing a match. 

The beat host Davao City White team in the championship 4-0, to win the Mindanao Cup.

The Bukidnon lads of coach Guillier Sumampong of Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School will be heavily favoured in this three day competition but will face tough competition from One La Salle team.

One La Salle team won the Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) Cup last year at Sta. Maria field in Talisay City defeating Dynamic Builders team of Bacolod City.

One La Salle is made up of the top players from De La Salle Zobel and De La Salle Greenhills.

Completing the teams include Baguio, Camarines del Norte, Camarines Sur, Laguna, Masbate, Gawad Kalinga, Pangasinan United FC, Claret School, Central Luzon FA-Tarlac, Tuguegarao City FC, NCLFC, YFA Muntinlupa, Cordillera Binandang FC, and Tarlac Province FC.

Eliminations will be on Nov. 22, while the quarter finals are on Nov. 23 and the semis and the finals and awarding will be on Nov. 24. (l.biantan@gmail.com)
