ROSEVALE SCHOOL’S MIDFIELD MAESTRO LYLE DY TAKES THE FREEKICK DURING THEIR MATCH AGAINST XAVIER UNIVERSITY HIGH SCHOOL IN THE CAGAYAN DE ORO WEST 1 DISTRICT MEET.
ROSEVALE School for the nth time advanced to the Cagayan de Oro DepEd Palaro Division meet when the Comets dominated their opponents in the High School and Elementary categories to top the District 1 meet held at the Xavier Estates field Uptown.
The Comets swept their adversaries in the four-team contest including Xavier University High School which they beat, 1-0, in their final match to insure their place in the Division meet set next month.
Midfield maestro Lyle Dy scored the winning goal for the Comets from the left side with a left footed strike that caught the Xavier University goalkeeper off guard in the 20th minute.
Dy’s goal came after he received an elegant center pass from RJ Caintic. It was a sorry loss for the XU boys who lost their star player and former ‘Little Azkals’ Joie Gaid.
Gaid, a member of the Philippine U11 team which trained for a month in Loughborough, UK in 2014, suffered an injury after colliding with Rosevale’s bulky defender Aaron Magadan.
The Rosevale Secondary team also defeated Liceo University, 6-1, and St. Mary’s Academy 16-0. The XU boys also won over Liceo, 1-0, and SMA 10-0.
Rosevale’s elementary team leaned on the goals from Giorgio Gumban, Ethan Vistan and Kenny Guion to sweep West City Central School in their best-of-three series.
