HIS CENTER BACK INO BUTASLAC MIGHT MISS THE MATCH TODAY
CAGAYAN de Oro City — In spite of their 1-0 win against Butuan Agusan de Norte FA (BANFA) last Friday, Camiguin Misamis Oriental Regional FA boys are worried when they face Agusan de Surigao del Sur (AGSURRFA) this morning in the resumption. of Group G elimination tournament of the PFF Boys U19 National Football Championships 2022 at the Pelaez stadium.
CMORFA team coach Ivan Caiña confirmed last night that he might not field in central defender Ino Butaslac after the former Rosevale School and Corpus Christi defender fell ill after their match against BANFA last Friday.
Butaslac is a prolific defender who have played in the Palarong Pambansa many times representing Northern Mindanao. He just finished Senior High School at Corpus Christi School.
His absence in the middle of the defense will be a great loss for the CMORFA boys but a good coach and a good team is always prepared for any bad or worst scenarios.
Thus, if indeed Butaslac can’t play today, coach Ivan Caiña confirmed that he will use team captain John Gementiza as center defender.
Gementiza also from Rosevale School but has moved to University of Science Technology-Philippines (UST-P) during is senior high school, plays holding midfielder but is also an experienced defender having played central defense for various Northern Mindanao teams in the Palaro.
Caiña has not announced his starting eleven for today but he is also worried for his striker Lyle Dy who will play with a yellow card if he starts.
Dy was given a caution after clashing with the goalkeeper in their match against BANFA. If he gets another caution today then he will be suspended in their final match against Surigao del Norte Dinagat Island RFA (SNADIRFA) on Tuesday morning.
For sure coach Ivan will start with his key players at the back with Jeff Cascara as attacking left fullback and Josh Go the attacking right back.
Left winger Kent Quieta of Abbas Montessori School will definitely keep his position as the main feeder for their lone striker Lyle Dy. The question now is if coach Ivan will keep right winger Joh Nul Salip or replace him with Nick Longanay.
Longanay of Golden City FC was a second half substitute for Salip in their clash against BANFA and scored the winning goal from a follow-up of a deflected shot by Dy.
For sure youngster Kinsey ‘Kid’ Yañez of Higala FC will keep his post as starting attacking midfielder and hopefully Raffi Rubio will replace Gementiza in the middle.
Yañez, an experienced 16-year-old will partner with Raffi Rubio of Corpus Christi at the center.
Paulo Ladaga and Luigi Awayan may definitely complete the midfield and provide stability in their defense and push their striker and wingers for the much needed goals.
Goalkeeper Rafael Reyes played a perfect game against BANFA keeping a clean sheet. He is expected to start anew.
In their match against BANFA coach Ivan used five substitutes which gave the team fresh legs under the swelterring heat that eventually tired the BANFA players.
But who will get rewarded with few minutes of play will only be depend on coach Ivan.
The substitutes Ernesto Seriosa, Adrian Yder, Have Vallar, Pedro Tagara, John Magalzo, Kurt Tabamo, Anthin Mendoza, Sean Amora, Cesar dela Cruz, Jomar Manabilang and Ramsfield Solis will be ready to come in anytime.
A win today will move them closer to qualification for the National Championship next month at still undisclosed venue. (jackbiantan@gmail.com)
