ELEVEN-ASIDE SECONDARY GIRLS COMPETITION TO BE INTRODUCED AS DEMO SPORT
Starting this Palaro football bubble, Girls football will get a big boost as the Department of Education has made the eleven-aside competition a demonstration sport thus maybe becoming an official sport in this annual sport evet once it finally kicks off in the summer of 2023.
According to Palaro football manager Rufino Arellano, Girls Secondary football will start as a demo sport and they have organised a girls football match between two selection teams from Cebu.
A match between the Cebu City Selection team and the Mandaue City Selection team will highlight today’s first day elimination round in the Palaro football bubble tournament at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The Cebu City vs Mandaue City clash will start at 230 p.m. after the two matches among the boys secondary teams in the morning. Opening ceremony is scheduled at 2 p.m.
Coaching the Mandaue City team is Labogon National High School coach Binky Estrada. She will have her players in her line-up with some players from Ateneo.
The Cebu City team on the other hand will be coached by University of Southern Philippines-Foundation coach Sheba Castanares. He will have players from USP-F, St. Theresa’s College, University of San Jose-Recoletos, and Abellana National School.
Meanwhile, match commissioner Francis Ramirez announced that Abellana National School will clash with Sacred Heart School Ateneo de Cebu of Mandiae starting at 7 a.m., then Don Bosco Technology College will clash with Don Bosco Boys Home-Liloan National High School at 8:30 a.m.
