After almost a year of being inactive here, I’ve been active again lately, thanks to the PFF election. The latest issue being raised is Kaya, Ceres and Stallions entry as members of the PFF and my former boss Jack Biantan has raised quite an issue. Why only them and not others?
Well, I seem to remember that a few years ago there was to be a change in the PFF composition of its members, allowing more representation from the football community and not limit it to just the member FAs. A quick check online shows that the members that will compose the national association include the Division 1 clubs and the three are Division 1 clubs.
You can check the statutes here. It’s literally the top entry when you google “PFF statutes.” It’s interesting that regional collegiate leagues like the Cesafi can be member. I pushed for its membership in the CVFA but the league is busy but at least it’s now working with the FA (But that’s a different story).
These clubs spend millions a year, more than the member FAs, and I think they more than deserve a vote. Here’s something interesting I’ll throw back to Jack (first bucket’s on me the next time we meet, peace), how come there are still so many FAs in Mindanao? The PFF wanted to regionalize the FAs, that’s why from the Cebu Football Association, it is now the Central Visayas Regional Football Association. Has Mindanao gone that route? If it has, then I’m wrong let’s move on.
If it hasn’t, shouldn’t they too be regionalized? Say four FAs for the whole region? Four each from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and one in NCRFA.
I remember when Visayas accepted the move to regionalize, there was some pushback from others, Mindanao specifically.
It would be interesting if the non-issue on the three clubs getting in as members of the PFF will raise that plan again.
