PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE BACKED DON BOSCO VICTORIAS ELEMENTARY DIVISION TEAM WITH PAFFC COACH DENNIS DOKAS (standing second right) AND TEAM COACH JOSE ‘ITIK’ BALDAVA (standing second from left)
DON Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) in Victorias City leaned on their prolific striker John Benedict Gulmatico to turn back St. Scholastica’s Academy, 2-1, and capture the Boys Elementary football title in the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) meet Sunday at the STI-West Negros University football pitch, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
Gulmatico scored two goals, one from the penalty spot and another one from a breakaway, to assure the championship for DBTI. It was a sweet victory for the Bosconians which won the title six years ago.
The presence of Philippine Airforce FC team manager and chief backer Keith Buyco and PAFFC coach Dennis Dokas inspired the Bosconians of coach Jose ‘Itik’ Baldava.
The core of the championship squad will be selected to the NOPSSCEA team which will compete to the Negros Occidental Provincial meet set on Dec. 8-13 in Bacolod City in preparation for the Western Visayas Region Athletic Association (WVRAA) early next year.
The Bosconians swept the elimination round beating Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod 8-0, St. Scholastica Academy 2-0. University of St. La Salle 3-1, and Trinity Christian School 2-1.
