NOFA (Negros Occidental Football Association) President Ricardo “Ricky” Yanson Jr. has declared his intention to run for the highest position in the Footballing land, but is he the right man for the job?
Ricardo “Ricky” Yanson Jr. took the local Football scene by surprise by admitting his intention of running for the PFF Presidency.
The current president of NOFA, Ricky has been behind successful programs such as the NOFA Cup which holds a national youth championship every year which is a step above any other local tournament. One of the most successful youth teams to ever compete abroad was a collection of the standout talents that joined the NOFA Cup.
Ricky’s contributions are undeniable but does this automatically make him the right man for the job?
As recently as July of this year, Ricky along with 3 of his Siblings has been embroiled in a family feud against current Ceres-Negros FC President Leo Ray Yanson over control of the largest bus company in Southeast Asia, Vallacar Transit. Ricky and the other 3 used Leo Ray’s love for Football and Ceres-Negros FC in general as one of the reasons for the latter’s ouster as president of their company.
Multiple accounts on popular Social Networking Site Facebook surfaced of elder sibling Roy Yanson telling Vallacar workers that Leo Ray has been wasting the company’s funds on “overpaid” Football players who’s yearly Salary alone is more than most of theirs combined. Roy even went as far as saying Ceres players get paid by millions by doing “Sipa Sipa lang” (Kicking the ball) while the company’s workers toiled away in the country’s roads earning fractions of the player’s pay. Ricky Yanson can be seen in the crowd supporting his elder brother’s claim. How can a man who claims to love Football support such a statement?
Here’s to hoping that the 29 Regional FA Presidents vote for who truly cares for the game we love this coming November.
