THE formidable Northern Mindanao Stars Boys elementary booters halted the spirited rally of host Davao Region just in time to record a 4-2, quarterfinals win and advance to the semis in the Palarong Pambansa elementary boys football at the UP Mindanao turf pitch in Mintal, Davao City.

The NorthMin boys of coach Wilbert Racines will meet Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) team of coach Glen Ramos who downed National Capital Region, 3-1 in the other quarterfinal match.
Once again the scoring trio of Thirdy Amores Bukidnon Faith School of Valencia City Bukidnon, Donn Messi Ebuña of Corpus Christi School and Vanvan Sambaan Pagatpat Elementary School provided the goals of the Region 10 kids while Matt Columna also of Corpus Christi School added another goal.
It was the seventh goal of Sambaan in the tournament. Amores recorded scored his 6th goal and Ebuña his 5th.
Amores opened up the scoring for Northern Mindanao while Columna and Sambaan added one goal each to take an early lead.
However DVRAA, represented by players mostly from Ateneo de Davao University, tried to play catch-up and rallied the Davao kids scoring two successive goals to cut the lead to only one, 2-3, at the half.
Team captain Donn Messi Ebuña however, sealed the match by scoring the final goal in the second half to insure their entry to the semis against the Cebuanos which is set at 3 p.m. Thursday.

The NMRAA secondary booters of coach Marc Racines were not as lucky as their younger counterparts, after they suffered a 0-1 setback from the hands Central Visayas of University of San Jose-Recoletos coach Joselito Bono in the quarterfinal.
