Van Ommeren, the daughter of business woman Sally Paras Van Ommeren, saw action in Vigan but was troubled by injuries in the later part of the tournament. This time however, she is in top shape and is aching to lead the Region 10 Girls to a medal finish.

Coach Dhon Lazo of Xavier University also has brought with him five other Vigan Palaro veterans from XU. Do not be deceived. These “Little Girls” are skilful, shifty and are masters of hardcourt football.
Leading them is the heart and soul of their defence and the middle court, team captain Lourinne Jiuseppe Lazo, the oldest of coach Dhon Lazo’s four Futsal playing daughters.
LJ Lazo is a solid play maker and defender for the XU girls and she is also expected to bring her leadership to the Region 10 Stars Girls Futsal team.

The two other “Little Girls” of the North Min Star, Megan Wong and Zippy Moss Medalla are also deceiving as they look like “teeny boppers” but give them the football and they will play wonders with it.
Wong, the only daughter of businessman George Wong, is a partner of LJ Lazo at the backcourt and at the middle. She is also a solid defender and can also score.

Zippy Medalla on the other hand is a brilliant partner of Van Ommeren up front. The youngest of the football playing daughters of University of San Carlos, Cebu coach Allan Medalla, is a scoring machine and is dangerous in front of the goal if left un marked.
Giving them the much needed help at the back and up front are two other Vigan Palaro veterans Jilian Bergado also of XU and Nizza Jorj Lazo also of XU.
The only problem the North Min Stars Futsal team might face in Davao will be the goalkeeping position. The team lost their two reliable team custodians from the Vigan Palaro to graduation. Eunice Eduave now plays for University of the Philippines in the UAAP while Coleene Acelo enrolled with the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio last school year but has left to join Eduave at UP.
But coach Lazo is confident that despite of playing with two new goalkeepers the NorthMin Stars will be strong behind the goals with newcomers Fiona Marie Anoos of XU and Crisandra Lasmarias of La Salle Academy of Iligan.
Completing the team are Trexie Alfeche of Ozamiz City, Anna Patricia Edma of XU, Edna Montecino of Baroy, Lanao del Norte, and Mikaela Ann Lazo also of XU.
“The girls will fight a good fight and will give 100 per cent against other teams. We are expecting tough competitions from our opponents but we will always try to win each match,’’ said Lazo who has coach the Stars Palaro team thrice already.
