CORPUS CHRISTI BOYS 17 CHAMPION MVP JAMES ‘THE SAVIOR’ MOCORRO
The Corpus booters of coach Marc Racines, needed the heroic performances of goalkeeper James Mocorro to defeat Ilonggo Young Booters FC in a thrilling penalty shootout finale.
Mocorro saved the last attempt of the IYBFC in the battle of the goalkeepers and then cemented their win with a booming penalty shot to break the hearts of the Iloilo kids.
Mocorro won the MVP award for his starting performance.
Iloilo YBFC led early with a breakaway goal in the first half but national youth player Josh Go’s equaliser from the right flank extended the match to a penalty shoot-out.
CDO UNITED EXITED EARLY VS IYBFC IN THE QUARTERS
Their victory is the second for the Cagayan de Oro team after CDO United won the Boys 15 title last year. CDO United also competed in the same division but went down to IYBFC in the quarterfinal, 1-2.

Corpus will also form the core of the Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) squad in the Davao City this summer.
“I am thankful for our team’s victory. Our hard work pay off,” said coach Marc Racines after the match. He added they are busy with their preparations for the Palaro. “We are not there yet and we have to work harder.”
