Xavier University Lady Booters See Action in Mindanao Peace Cup

XAVIER UNIVERSITY BOOTERS POSE  BEFORE THEIR MATCH AGAINST DE LA SALLE OZAMIS IN THE MINDANAO PEACE CUP.

XAVIER University Ladies football team of rookie coach Rojie Sicat is facing big challenges as they compete in the ongoing Mindanao Peace Cup at the Caraga State University in Butuan City.

The Xavier Ladies have been decimated by graduation of many of their key players and the exit of their former coach Lance Turrecha.

ROOKIE COACH ROJIE SICAT

Rookie coach and former Xavier University standout Rojie Sicat has taken over and she inherited a team full of rookies like herself. It is her first coaching job.

Only three of the old reliables have remained. Team captain April Borja, and forwards Saira Comie and Desiree Castro are now the key players remaining from the bunch who have dominated the local women’s football scene three years ago.

There is a bright side for the XU Ladies however as rookie and former Rosevale School and Higala FC standout Lea Sobremisana is playing.

Hope is however on their side as XU Ladies survived with a scoreless draw against a strong De Salle Ozamiz City squad in their first match yesterday. As of this writing they are playing against Ateneo de Zamboanga.

The match against the Zamboanga ladies is very crucial as only one team will miss the semis in their group. Father Saturnino Urios University of Butuan leads the other group with Ateneo de Davao University, and Datu Ibrahim Paglas Memorial College.
