CORPUS Christi School football program under the father and son coaching tandem of Wilbert Racines and his son Marc, is now leading the school in its golden age after they obliterated arch rival West 1 teams to capture the High School and Elementary Division titles in the Cagayan de Oro Athletic Association (COAA) Division meet at the Westridge field.

The Corpus booters, playing for the South District, were too good for the West 1 booters who were represented by players from Rosevale School and Xavier University High School in the high school division and Rosevale School and West City Central School in the elementary division.
CCS capitalised on the errors of West 1 goalkeeper Dave Mendoza early in the first half and leaned on the superb plays of substitute Blake Carrera to score a 6-2 win in the final to seal its gold medal finish.

“We are happy about the result. I am proud of my players because of their improvement individually and as a team,’’ said coach Marc Racines after the match.
South Distirct then went on to dominate West 1 in championship day as the Corpus Christi kids dumped the Rosevale School and West City Central School players, 6-1, to capture the elementary division title.

West 1 went for an early lead in the high school championship with midfielder a July Vicente strike from outside of the box finding the back of the net in the 2nd minute.
After the goal, coach Marc made a brilliant substitution sending in Blake Carrera for Marben Palma to add more firepower. Carrera did not disappoint as he equalised for the South District in the 16th minute to start his hat-trick and open the scoring flood gates. He added another goal in the 22nd minute to put South District up front as he capitalised on weak defending of West 1.

But West 1 refused to give up without fight. Striker Dale Anoyo scored a fantastic long range free kick in the 25th to equalise.
It was however the last offensive thrust for the West 1 boys as Carrera completed his hat trick in the 29th minute after capitalising again on the errors of West 1 goalkeeper and ending the halftime with a 3-2 advantage.
The South boys then added three more goals in the second half as West 1 collapsed with MJ Hojas scoring a brace in the 44th, and 53th minutes and Aeron Sobesa adding another one in the 58th.
Striker Donn Ebuña scored a hat-trick and played heads up football from start to finish to lead South District 6-1, over West 1, 6-1 in the elementary division championship.
Vigan Palaro veteran Jerand Hortellano scored two goals while Karstien Yañez added another one to complete the rout and ensure their place in the regional meet.

Like!! I blog quite often and I genuinely thank you for your information. The article has truly peaked my interest.
Most actors invest their time and efforts poorly.
It is in reality a great and useful piece of info. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Jrand Hortilano only scored one goal, Donn Ebuña scored FOUR goals. And Donn Ebuña was more than qualified to represent Region X during last year’s Palarong Pampook and Pambansa games but sad to say the qualifying team did not pick him which is mind boggling.
I believe you have mentioned some very interesting points, regards for the post. 🙂
