CAGAYAN DE Oro based football coach Jerome dela Peña recently completed the grueling two-week first part of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) B Licensing coaching course conducted by the country’s top coaches at the Claret School Football Turf pitch in Quezon City.

Two of the country’s top AFC A Licensed instructors Marlon Maro and Aris Caslib conducted the course to for AFC C Licensed coaches from all over Asia.

They include Saleh Mohammad Al-Awwad, Franco Niñ0 Bambico, Adrian Ceszar Bequillo, Floyd Jofferson Crisologo, Jonathas Henrique de Freitas Candido, Jung Donggyu, Arman Esteban, Jin Ashley Flores, Eduardo Fuentes Jr., Joseph Gensaya, Peter Kalaw, Andrei Lababit, Jon Aaron Nebreja, Samuel Odunlami, Enroque Padilla, Emil Pellezer, Aldrin Redilla, Carlos Francisco Santiago, Roderick Suner, Jose Mauro Samuel Tamayo II, and Angelito Jesus Villanueva.

“I learned a lot. No money could buy the things I have learned from the course. License B is very important for coaches to really understand the concept of football specially in making analysis of any game,’’ he said.

The licensed Dep Ed teacher also added that they are tasked to making lots of research study and will be allowed to join in the second part of the course if they comply all the requirements given. “My research is entitled “What are the challenges in football in Mindanao,’’ he added. He will start his research on the players, coaches and clubs in four provinces probably Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental.

They will go back to Manila for another 10-day study in November to present their research and the 2nd part for the completion of the course.

Right now Jerome works in a research company here in Cagayan de Oro but still active in coaching kids in his hometown of Gingoog.
