Even on the moon we support the Azkals

THE Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has finalized the venue of the Azkals match vs Tajikistan of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Qualifiers final match on March 27.
It is not in the Panaad stadium in Bacolod but in Manila, at the Rizal Memorial Football stadium, the home of the dead FC Meralco Manila.
The Rizal Memorial Football stadium is the burial of the FCMM but for the Azkals, the venue seems lucky for them. From year 2015-2017, the Azkals have a winning record at the RMFS with four wins, three losses and one draw.
I love the Azkals playing in Bacolod as I wanted to go to the City of Smiles to reconnect with my relatives and some friends. I was born and raised in Victorias City few miles away from Bacolod and how I wish to go back there. The last time I was in Victorias was in 2011 during the first year death anniversary of my father and I did not even go to Bacolod as the airport is now in Silay.
I hate going to Manila. It is expensive, crowded and there are very few football crazy fans.
Bacolod is football crazy but I was surprise when the the crowd did not show up during the last Azkals match last year. Maybe that was one of the reasons why the PFF opted for Manila.
If the same number of people who showed up for the Azkals’ last game in Bacolod last year would show up again, then it would be best to have the match against Tajikistan in Manila.
Playing in Bacolod is good for the Visayas and Mindanao fans. But logistics wise it is more expensive for the PFF. But hopefully the supporters will show up at the Rizal Memorial on March 27.
I will beg my wife to go to Manila to witness the historical match. I am also begging the Azkals fans to fly to Manila on Holy Tuesday. Anywhere the Azkals will play we must support them, even if they will play on the moon we should go.
Whether we will have a sad Holy Week or a happy one will depend on the performance of the Azkals. Book your tickets for Manila on March 27. (l.biantan@gmail.com)
